Enjoying the sand
The Lane Family (+ Vin) had an inpromptu beach day last Saturday and boy did we pick a wonderful one at that. We all piled into Vin's giant Armada and made our way to the shore for the day. We left so early that the kids still had their PJ's on! Vin had a car pass so we were able to drive onto the beach to set up shop (MUCH easier). The kids had a blast and Ali got her first taste of sand. She couldn't stay out of the sand in fact (much to my dismay) and it was impossible to get it off of her. Thank goodness they conked out on the way home so we could enjoy a little bit of peace and quiet!

Caroline, Brody, and Riley took off all of their clothes in a pouring rainstorm and ran around the front yard. It was hysterical!

Meghan, Johnny, Caroline, Riley and even their dog Miley braved summer traffic for a weekend visit with us here in Maryland. The kids had a great time playing (and the adults did too!). Again, the sick monster reared its ugly head and they had to leave a little early but we still had a fantastic time!!!
Fourth of July
The Lane's had a fabulous fourth of July weekend (minus a few issues). Jon and I kicked off the weekend at a friends house and were treated with a fantastic fireworks display to end the evening. The following night, we wandered (literally) down the street to our community's dock party and met many of our new neighobors and we closed the party down! The next day, the whole crew got dressed in our patriotic best for the community festivities which included a parade (where we decorated the tractor for participation, but it ran out of power much to Brody's dismay), many kid friendly races and competitions, and a BBQ at the beach. The kids had the cutest matching outfits on, buuuuuuuttttt, of course Alison had an ear infection and had to stay back so no picture could be taken (I will recreate it though). Also, Jon got sick on the fourth as well so we had to cut our BBQ short. Hopefully next year, everyone will be feeling better!
